Yes. Shankarabharanam Mangala Kanakadhara is pure Kanchipuram silk, handloom woven. Every pure silk saree we sell is dispatched with a Silk Mark tag, affixed before the saree leaves us.

Is the border on this saree Korvai?

No. This is not a Korvai saree; the body and border are woven continuously rather than as a separately interlocked Korvai construction. We only use the term Korvai when a saree genuinely has one.

What is the design on the body of this saree?

An all-over pattern of flowing gold zari botanical vines covers the body, arranged in repeating vertical trails with fine stems branching into small leaves.

What does the border look like?

A broad gold zari border combines paisley-shaped motifs with floral scrollwork, finished with a fine triangular edge separating it from the body.

What does the pallu look like?

The pallu departs from the body's flowing vine pattern with a dense, interlaced diagonal lattice worked entirely in gold zari, framed on both sides by the same paisley-and-floral border seen elsewhere on the saree. The contrast between the body's botanical pattern and the pallu's geometric lattice is a deliberate part of the design.

What does the name Shankarabharanam Mangala Kanakadhara mean?

It is named for Raaga Shankarabharanam, one of the most majestic raagas in Carnatic music, and belongs to our Raaga Layam of Kanchipuram collection. Mangala Kanakadhara evokes an auspicious shower of gold, reflecting the density of zari across the saree.

Does this saree come with a blouse?

Yes. A plain navy-blue blouse piece comes attached, finished with a matching gold zari border in the same paisley-and-floral pattern as the saree — a deliberate contrast against the saree's dense all-over body design.

What is the length of this saree?

Approximately 5.5 metres of saree plus a 0.8 metre blouse piece.

Is fall and pico done before dispatch?

No. We do not offer fall, pico or other finishing services. The saree reaches you unfinished, so your own tailor can complete it to your preference along with the blouse.

How should I care for this silk saree?

Dry clean only, to protect the silk and the zari. Keep it away from water, perfume and deodorant, air it in shade after each wear before it goes back into the wardrobe, and store it wrapped in soft muslin so the fabric can breathe. Refold it along fresh lines from time to time so crease marks and zari stress do not set, and keep it away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Is a navy-blue Kanchipuram suitable for a wedding?
