Reetigowla Rajatha Layam is a handloom pure Kanchipuram silk bridal saree named for Raaga Reetigowla, from our Raaga Layam of Kanchipuram collection. A silvery lavender body is worked throughout with a dense, repeating chevron-and-leaf pattern in gold-toned zari, meeting a genuine Korvai border in deep violet and gold before opening into a dramatic pallu of the same chevron field at a larger scale.

How should I care for this silk saree?

Dry clean only, to protect the silk and the zari. Keep it away from water, perfume and deodorant, air it in shade after each wear before it goes back into the wardrobe, and store it wrapped in soft muslin so the fabric can breathe. Refold it along fresh lines from time to time so crease marks and zari stress do not set, and keep it away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Is a lavender Kanchipuram suitable for a wedding?

Styling Tip

For Reetigowla Rajatha Layam, I would let the unusual lavender–violet palette remain sophisticated rather than overwhelming it with jewellery. Create the distinction through subtle Vanki-inspired angular princess panels worked entirely in the deep violet self-fabric. The angular seam architecture provides a traditional jewellery-inspired visual rhythm without requiring stones, contrast fabric or embroidery. Finish the neckline and sleeve edges with very fine self-fabric piping. This is my strongest choice for Reetigowla Rajatha Layam because the structured panel lines subtly echo the rhythmic geometry of the saree without attempting to reproduce its actual design.

Temple-Arch Panel Back Blouse

Keep the front simple, high and traditionally covered. On the back, use a fully covered self-fabric panel shaped with a restrained temple-arch outline — created through seam construction, not through a cut-out. Use simple mid-length sleeves and keep all finishing in the same deep violet/purple fabric. The key distinction is important: the arch is a blouse-stitching inspiration, not a claim that the saree itself carries a temple or Gopura motif.
