What is Pure Mix Kanchipuram Silk?

Pure Mix Kanchipuram Silk is a Kanchipuram silk-blend saree composed of 80% silk and 20% mixed fibre. It brings together the richness and traditional character of Kanchipuram weaving in a more accessible fabric composition. As it is not 100% pure silk, it does not carry a Silk Mark tag.

Does this saree come with a Silk Mark tag?

No. This saree is composed of 80% silk and 20% mixed fibre and is therefore not classified as 100% pure silk. It does not come with a Silk Mark tag. Our qualifying Pure Kanchipuram Silk sarees are separately identified and dispatched with a Silk Mark tag.

Is this saree handloom?

Yes. Kalyani Mayil Prabha is handloom woven.

Why doesn't this saree have a border?

This is an intentionally borderless Kanchipuram weave. The peacock-toned blue body is designed without a conventional contrast border, allowing the abstract dual-toned zari buttas and the vibrant rani pink pallu to take centre stage.

What is the design on the body of this saree?

Supplementary zari insertion forms abstract dual-toned buttas across the body using linear thread extensions, on a continuous plain weave without border definition.

What does the pallu look like?

The pallu is a vibrant rani pink, developed through high-density jacquard weaving with grid-based zari structuring and geometric repeat alignment, creating a striking contrast against the peacock blue body.

What does the name Kalyani Mayil Prabha mean?

It is named for Raaga Kalyani, one of the most auspicious raagas in Carnatic music, and belongs to our Raaga Layam of Kanchipuram collection. Mayil Prabha means the splendour of the peacock, reflected in the saree's peacock-toned blue body.

Does this saree come with a blouse?

Yes. An attached rani pink contrast running blouse comes with the saree.

What is the length of this saree?

The saree measures approximately 5.5 metres, with an additional 0.8-metre blouse piece.

Are fall and pico done before dispatch?

Fall and pico are not included, allowing you to have the saree finished by your preferred tailor according to your draping style and requirements.

How should I care for this saree?

Dry clean is preferred for longevity, though the saree can be lightly hand-washed separately in cold water if required, using a mild detergent or shampoo only. Do not wring; drip dry in shade instead, and iron on low heat on the reverse side. Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight, and do not hang for long durations — always fold and store flat, wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, refolding occasionally to avoid crease marks.
