What is Pure Mix Kanchipuram Silk, and is this saree handloom?

Pure Mix Kanchipuram Silk is a Kanchipuram silk-blend saree composed of 80% silk and 20% mixed fibre, bringing together the richness and traditional character of Kanchipuram weaving in a more accessible fabric composition. As it is not 100% pure silk, it does not carry a Silk Mark tag. Hamsadhwani Mayura Tharangam is handloom woven.

Why doesn't this saree have a border?

This is an intentionally borderless Kanchipuram weave. The peacock aqua-turquoise body is designed without a conventional contrast border, letting the richness of the weave and the depth of the shade take centre stage before the rani pink pallu.

What is the design on this saree?

Delicate gold zari geometric motifs run across the borderless aqua-turquoise body, opening into a rani pink pallu richly worked with traditional zari motifs.

What does the name Hamsadhwani Mayura Tharangam mean?

It is named for Raaga Hamsadhwani, known for its radiant, auspicious character in Carnatic music, and belongs to our Raaga Layam of Kanchipuram collection. Mayura Tharangam evokes a peacock's shimmering wave of colour, reflected in the saree's aqua-turquoise body.

What comes with this saree, and can it be customised?

An attached contrast rani pink running blouse comes with the saree, at approximately 5.5 metres of saree plus a 0.8 metre blouse piece. Fall and pico are not included, so you can have the saree finished by your preferred tailor to your own draping style. Every saree also comes with the Prabha's Heritage Journal, a printed note with care guidance and blouse-stitching inspiration.

How should I care for this saree?

Dry clean is recommended. If washing at home, hand wash gently in cold water using a mild detergent or shampoo, washing it separately to prevent colour bleeding. Avoid harsh chemicals and never wring or twist the fabric; drip dry in shade and iron on low heat on the reverse side. Store neatly folded in muslin cloth in a cool, dry place.
